This would return a list of documents containing either ethyl or cellulose or both words, in any order

Returns a list of documents that contain the phrase ethyl cellulose exactly as quoted
Ethyl
Using capital letters forces an exact case match to occur, thus returning documents containing Ethyl, but not those containing ethyl
ethyl AND cellulose
This will only return details of documents that contain all of the specifed words (in any order)
ethyl + cellulose
Same as the example above, the plus (+) sign is a direct alternative for AND
ethyl NOT cellulose
This would return a list of documents containing the word ethyl but NOT containing the word cellulose
ethyl - cellulose
Same as the above example, the minus (-) sign is a direct alternative for NOT
$eth
The dollar sign is used to compare letters instead of whole words, so this would show documents containing ethyl, ethanol, method, etc.
